History
The Full Circle Foundation, Inc was founded in 2021 because our daughter went through school being looked over by teachers and passed over for things like being in a school club because she earned poor grades. My husband and I learned that she has dyslexia and this is why she failed every test every single year. (No exaggeration)
Her self-esteem and confidence were depleted by the time we figured out how to help her, so reaching her full potential seemed to be impossible. I encouraged her to learn to play an instrument, which she did. Learning to play the trombone, being in the Pryor Middle School Band, and encouraging her to be a part of the Sinfonia Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra began to help boost her confidence. She at least began to try and make good grades without the feeling of defeat. Working with a music teacher in one-on-one spaces and in small groups provided the attention and motivation she needed to realize people DO care and that she IS good at something. The more she learned and was able to demonstrate through music, the more her self-esteem increased. By the time she was in the 9th grade, she was selected as the Commander of her Flight for ROTC and earned first chair in the concert band at Choctaw. Here we are seven years later, and she is the Trombone Section leader at Choctaw heading into her senior year, just submitted her college application to Troy University for Fall 2024, and for the first time, reached her goal of having a 3.0 at the end of a school year.
My child believes in herself, but what’s even more beautiful is that she helps other kids believe in themselves by teaching them music too!
Through the foundation, we call on the community to help fund music education so kids with low GPAs can find something they are good at that will encourage them to continue to strive for greatness. We have raised more than $20,000 in our two years in operation and have served more than 50 children in Okaloosa County. We partner with Choctaw High School, The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast, and The Montessori Learning Center.
